Welcome Baby E {Durham Region Newborn Photography}

This weekend was full of new baby sessions, one of which was our cousins’ first little baby girl!  She was such a doll, and was so good during her photo session, we are so happy for Amanda and Dave on becoming parents, you are doing an amazing job, enjoy these photos of your sweet little girl! p.s. after my son saw these photos he said “why do you always take the baby’s pictures when they are naked?” hehe, I told him it’s only ok with new little babies!

Here are some of my favorite shots from a recent session with two of the most teeny, sweet baby girls I have ever seen!  They were so good for their session, and with Mom & Dad’s help and a blow dryer we were able to get some truly memorable shots.  I love the newborn stage…

Here are some of my favorite shots from a recent newborn session with an adorable baby girl, and her beautiful family.  I adore capturing this time in a family’s life, newborns are so precious and sweet and there is nothing better then a simple picture of a peacefully sleeping infant. Before you know it they are growing up before your very eyes, so these photos are such a keepsake…I will be booking newborn sessions all throughout the winter, so if you or someone you know is expecting,  gift certificates make an excellent shower or Christmas gift, email shelleysomers@gmail.com to inquire about certificates or booking!

J & M {Engagement Photography} Toronto, Ontario

This fall has been full of e-sessions, and I am truly enjoying it!  I shot this engagement session in Toronto a few weeks back, and I am delighted to share it with you today!    Usually my shooting style is in nature with lot’s of rustic fences, trees, tall grass and fields…so when this lovely couple asked me to shoot their session right downtown Toronto, I knew it would be out of my box, and of course fun, I love trying new things.  They lead me to a bunch of awesome spots near harbour front, and also at U of T, which is SUCH a neat locale, definitely want to go back and shoot there again as I don’t think we even tipped the iceberg on all the spots available there.  Check out some of my faves!  I wish Jackie and Matt all the best at their wedding IN Australia in a few months!  If only I could go shoot it:) They will be using these shots to take over with them to Australia and use in a guest book, GREAT idea!!

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oi, oi, oi! Love Australia! Love that you did these shots downtown TO – love that you used U of T – would love to actually get there yet myself – missed the summer tours! Stellar job as always!

Leanne & Matt {Wedding Photography} York Region ON

Last weekend Chris and I had an awesome time shooting a beautiful autumn wedding, for a seriously lovely couple!  Yes it was cold *brrr* yes it was windy, and yes it was EVEN rainy, but we were blessed with breaks in the rain so we were still able to get a large amount of photos outdoors, which was exactly what Leanne and Matt really wanted.  I have to say that Leanne was one of the sweetest most genuinely joyful brides I have had the privileged of photographing, and it shows in her photos.  Her sweet relationship with her parents, her fun bond with her bridesmaids, and her absolute adoration for her new husband was a blessing for me to see, and I enjoyed photographing every minute of your special day.  Thank you so much for having us as your photographers, and this is one BIG blog post, because it was super hard to narrow it down to just a few faves!  Enjoy checking out this wedding, and Leanne and Matt I hope to work with you again one day!

The adorable flower girls, awaiting the limo to arrive…

This group of bridesmaids was so fun, AND they were all Dancers, so we had to play that up a bit with some dancy poses

Some Groomsmen shots courtesy of my Husband, Chris!

OK so I have to be honest and add that this was the most “difficult to shoot in” ceremony venue I have experienced to date,  it was extremely dark and heavy wood walls/ceiling, with a bit of natural light at the very front (very quaint and beautiful though! Just not a photographers friend).  So when shooting directly in front of the bride and groom they were coming out very dark, and since the ceiling was heavy wood there was no where to bounce flash, so what I ended up doing was shooting directly behind them instead!  That way I was able to utilize the natural light coming from the high windows in the front of the little chapel, and capture these sweet shots….gotta love a challenge!

Some of the Fall themed decor, the leaves were a fantastic alternative to flowers…

And we finish off with the “first dance” as hubby and wife….sooo sweet…congrats again you two love birds!
